We have installed five biomass boilers at Upton (over 1MW), as well as a significant number of roof–top solar panels.
The biomass boilers provide heat and hot water to all our commercial premises as well as over a dozen residential properties. All of the boilers are fuelled by wood chip, harvested from our own woodland, and occasionally topped up with wood from other sustainable sources. The solar panels help to provide the electricity to run the biomass boilers and also to run the drying fans at our grain stores.
We are committed to moving away from a reliance on fossil fuels to renewable sources of energy, and continue to invest in new, renewable technologies as these become available.
