At Upton we are working hard to ensure that the species and habitats, traditionally associated with farmland, are able to thrive alongside modern farming. Our ultimate goal is to deliver a sound and sustainable balance, producing food for us as well as habitats for wildlife.
Across the Estate, we have established 6-20m wide strips of land alongside water courses and woods as dedicated wildlife habitats. These strips are made up of wild flowers, clovers, rough tussocky grass and bird and bee friendly plants. Put simply, we are aiming to farm in a way that creates plentiful habitats for wildlife, whilst maintaining profitable agriculture.
